Single AVAs

The VinoSensei Cabernet Sauvignon Oak Knoll 2020 is part of our AVA series that began with the 2018 vintage as a collaboration with our celebrated consulting winemaker Andy Erickson. Our winemaking team blended fruit grown in the Oak Knoll District, which boasts the longest growing season in the valley, due in part to its position at the southern end of Napa Valley. A strong marine influence from the San Pablo Bay provides foggy mornings and cool summer nights. This wine displays the pure and expressive red fruit characters from the cooler climates that benefit the vineyards in this AVA.

Tucked into the hillside of the Mayacamas Mountains, the Yountville AVA is known for its innovative trellis system that allows for an even distribution of light and air on both sides of the canopy, producing wines with freshness and elegance. The wine’s minuscule production will make it one of our most desired AVA Cabernet Sauvignons.

The southeastern exposure of our Diamond Mountain parcel provides a natural nook of protection, allowing our Cabernet Sauvignon to bathe in just the right amount of ripening sunlight. The vineyard itself is tiny – three blocks totaling only 1.5 acres – which allows us to obsess over every cluster; leafing, shading and careful Brix readings at harvest, all in the pursuit of pure, focused Cabernet fruit.

Our winemaking team blended the Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Napa Valley 2020 from acclaimed sources across the mid-Valley floor. Opulent layers of black cherries and blue fruits harmonize with signature crème de cassis and sweet oak toast across a palate impression that’s both lithe and concentrated at once. Very limited production!

The VinoSensei Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford would make André Tchelistcheff proud for it was this late, famed winemaker who said, “It takes Rutherford dust to grow great Cabernet.” Our winemakers blended Cabernet Sauvignon from historically significant and ultra-premium vineyards on the valley floor and hillside, each possessing a unique terroir, to make a wine that expresses the characteristics of the Rutherford appellation to perfection.
